Chantilly has been a storied locale since the 1800s, when Stonewall Jackson, under orders from Robert E. Lee, staged the Battle of Chantilly. The town was home to numerous colonial plantations in the 1700s including Sully, Chantilly Plantation and the John Hutchison Farm. Growth in the area began in earnest with the completion of the Little River Turnpike, now Route 236. In more recent years the town was the site of the Bilderberg summit, a private conference of over a hundred influential invited guests in the realm of politics, communications and defense who gather to promote understanding between the United States and Western Europe. Our new home developments in Chantilly are also near the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center annex of the National Air and Space Museum and the National Reconnaissance Office.
